Federico Lecumberry was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on July 27th, 1974. He received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de la República (UdelaR), Uruguay, in 2000, 2006 and 2012 respectively.
Currently holds a position as Adjoint Professor in Signal Processing with the Electrical Engineering Department (Instituto de Ingeniería Eléctrica de la Facultad de Ingeniería), at the Universidad de la República (UdelaR). During 2008 and 2009 held a visiting position with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Minnesota. He works in signal and image processing techniques applied to medical imaging, in particular in Cryo-Electron Microscopy, and in Pattern Recognition techniques applied to various industrial applications. In the past he worked on geometric partial differential equations in computer vision applied to object segmentation, on disparity computation in stereo images and image and video codification. His research interests include Signal and Image Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Cryo-Electron Microscopy.
Dr. Lecumberry is a member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society; and a member (Candidato) of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores in Uruguay.
