Charla de Luiz W.P. Biscainho : “An introduction to the audio processing group”

Viernes 25 de octubre 09:00hs, Salón de Seminarios, IIE

El Instituto de Ingeniería Eléctrica de la Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad de la República invita a la siguiente charla : “An introduction to the audio processing group” por Luiz W.P. Biscainho

Resumen :

The GPA is the audio branch of the Signal, Multimedia and Telecommunications Lab (SMT) at UFRJ, and maybe the only Brazilian research group exclusively oriented to digital audio processing. In 20 years, the research projects of GPA hosted the works of BSc, MSc and DSc students in a wide range of topics, including audio restoration, binaural auralization, time-frequency analysis, automatic audio quality assessment, sound source separation, acoustic source / acoustic sensor localization, speech recognition, automatic rhythm analysis, and many others. From their strong signal processing origins, almost all applications have increasingly explored machine learning. Beginning with an overview of the UFRJ, this presentation introduces the group and discusses some of its research topics, with emphasis in our current interests. Specifically, we will introduce a recent work on combination of time-frequency representations, and a simple strategy to mitigate speed fluctuations in audio reproduction.
