Laura Aspirot

Laura Aspirot was born in March 15th, 1976 in Montevideo. She has a degree in Mathematic (UdelaR) since September 2003 and is currently an M.Sc. student. She entered the Mathematic Department (IMERL) in August 1998, being an Ayudante (grado 1) until June, 2004, when she became an Asistente (grado 2).
Pablo Belzarena

Pablo Belzarena is Full Professor at the Engineering School of the Universidad de la República, Uruguay. He obtained his Ph.D. degree and Master degree in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications) from Universidad de la República. He received the degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de la República. His main areas of research are: modelling, analysis and design of communications systems and networking, software defined radios and economic models applied to networks.

He was the Head of the “Instituto de Ingeniería Eléctrica (Facultad de Ingeniería, UDELAR)” from 2005 to 2007 and from 2010 to 2012. He is member of the “Consejo de la Facultad de Ingeniería” since 2014.

In 1989 he founded the technology company “Proyectos Ingeniería”. He managed this company until 2001 when he sold it and he decided to concentrate in the academic activity. He has managed several projects in automatization and networking in Uruguay, Argentina, France, USA and China.

 Gonzalo Belcredi

Gonzalo Belcredi was born in Montevideo on March 4, 1989.  He received his degree in Electrical Engineering from Facultad de Ingeniería, Universidad de la República (FING-UDELAR), in 2017. Since 2017 he works in Telecommunications Department – IIE as an Assistant Teacher (Gr.1). In 2018 he began his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, working on energy-aware scheduling in data centers for the provision of ancillary services to the grid.
Paola Bermolen

Paola Bermolen was born in 1976 in Montevideo, Uruguay. In 2004, she received a degree in Mathematics from the Universidad de la Republica, Montevideo, Uruguay, where she joined the Mathematical Department (IMERL) in 1998 and where she is now a Assistant Professor. She received her PhD in 2010 at Telecom ParisTech in Paris, France. She has co-authored several papers presented in international conferences and journals, and she has been responsible of different national and international projects. Her research interests are related to the stochastic modeling of telecommunications networks. Recently she is devoted to the performance analysis of wireless networks, including stochastic geometry and random graphs models.
Germán Capdehourat

Germán Capdehourat was born in Montevideo on June 17, 1983. He is an Electrical Engineer (UDELAR, 2006), specialist in telecommunications (DET, UDELAR, 2009) and holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering (UDELAR, 2015). He is a lecturer at the IIE (Faculty of Engineering, UDELAR) since 2005 and is currently Associate Professor (grade 3) since 2015. He has been a SNI member since 2012 and has participated in several R&D projects in the areas of image processing and wireless networks. In the professional field he has been working in Plan Ceibal since 2007, where he participated in the deployment of the connectivity solution throughout the country, and is currently part of the R&D team.
Pablo Flores Guridi

Pablo Flores Guridi was born in Montevideo, on December 19th, 1987. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering from Facultad de Ingeniería, Universidad de la República (FING-UDELAR), in 2012. He is currently a M.Sc. student co-tutored by Dr. Federico La Rocca and Prof. María Simon. His main academic interests are television and broadcasting systems. He has been a Teaching Assistant at Instituto de Ingeniería Eléctrica since 2012. He also works at a private cable television company.
Valeria Goicoechea

Valeria Goicoechea was born in Treinta y Tres on February 5, 1989. Her thesis for the Degree in Mathematics (UdeLaR, 2013), “An asymptotically optimal window selection rule for kernel density estimates”, was directed by Dr. Juan Kelemkerian. She is a Magister in Mathematical Engineering (UdeLaR, 2016); the thesis “Fluid limit and diffusion approximation in wireless network modeling” was directed by Dr. Paola Bermolen in the framework of a research project of this group. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Mathematics (PEDECIBA, UdeLaR). She has been an Ayudante (grado 1) at the Centro de Matemática of the Facultad de Ciencias since 2010 and at the Instituto de Matemática y Estadística Rafael Laguardia since 2011. She is now an Asistente (grado 2) at both institutes.
Gabriel Gómez Sena

Gabriel Gómez Sena was born in December 1962 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He is an Industrial Engineering (specialty: Electronics) since 1987. He is Profesor Agregado (grado4) at the Electrical Engineering Departement, where he has been the head of the Telecommunications Group in the periods 1999-2002 and 2005-2007. Most of its teaching activities since 1998 have revolved around networking. He is currently pursuing a Master Degree. Additionally, he works as an independent professional in network security and software developement.
Víctor González Barbone

Víctor González Barbone nació en Montevideo el 13 de noviembre de 1949. Obtuvo el título de Maestro Técnico en Electrónica en 1978 y el de Ingeniero de Sistemas en Computación en 1989. Desarrolló su actividad profesional en varias empresas públicas y privadas hasta el año 2004. Desde 1998 es Profesor Adjunto (grado 3) del Instituto de Ingeniería Eléctrica. Realizó varios cursos de posgrado en la Universidad de la República. Entre setiembre 2008 y julio 2010, ocupó el cargo de Jefe del Departamento de Telecomunicaciones. En 2007 obtuvo el Diploma de Estudios Avanzados (D.E.A.) y en 2013 el título de Doctor en Ingeniería Telemática, ambos por la Universidad de Vigo, España. Actualmente trabaja en el grupo de investigación vinculado al desarrollo de redes de datos basadas en radio definida por software (SDR, Software Defined Radio).
Federico ‘Larroca’ La Rocca

Federico ‘Larroca’ La Rocca was born in November 20th, 1981 in Montevideo. He started the Engineering School of the Universidad de la República (UdelaR) in the year 2000. Since July 2004 he works in the Electrical Engineering Department (IIE) as an Ayudante (grado 1) in the network group, and in 2006 he becomes an Asistente (grado 2) in the same institution. In the year 2006 he obtains the degree of Electrical Engineering. In that same year he moves to France to begin his PhD at Telecom ParisTech (ex ENST) under the supervision of Jean-Louis Rougier. His thesis defense was held on December 18th 2009. In April 2010 he returned to Uruguay, where since March 2011 he is an Profesor Adjunto (grado 3). In 2016 he obtained a position of Profesor Agregado (grado 4).
Martín Randall

Martín Randall Carlevaro was born in Paris, on August 17th, 1989. He entered the Engineering School of the Universidad de la República in the year of 2007. In 2015, he starts working as a teaching assistant in the IIE as a part of the group ARTES, in the Telecommunications Department.
Claudina Rattaro

Claudina Rattaro was born in Montevideo in August 29th 1984. She started the Engineering School of the Universidad de la República (UdelaR) in the year 2003. She has a degree in Electrical Engineering (specialty Telecommunications) from the Universidad de la República since July 2008. She entered the IIE in Abril 2009, being an Ayudante (grado 1) until Abril, 2014, when she became an Asistente (grado 2). She received her M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (UdelaR) in 2012 and her thesis “Mediciones y Aprendizaje Estadístico aplicado a problemas en Redes Inalámbricas” was tutored by PhD. Pablo Belzarena. In the year 2013 she has started a PhD at UdelaR on Cognitive Radio Networks. Her thesis is tutored by Dr. Pablo Belzarena and Dra. Paola Bermolen. About her professional activity, she worked in several public and private companies until 2013 acquiring experience in: automatization, networking (in particular in wireless networks), VoIP, software development and databases.
Juan Martín Vanerio

Juan Vanerio is a teaching assistant (grade 2/5) at the Engineering School of the Universidad de la República (Uruguay). He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1983.

He received its degree in Telecommunication Engineering in 2007 and after some years of professional activity at local companies and a ISP, he went to grad school at Universidad de la República and received his Masters degree in 2017 working on cognitive radio and no-regret algorithms.

His current research interests are machine learning and no-regret algorithms, especially applied to network measurements problems (including networking security and anomaly detection).

María Simon

María Simon was born in June 4th, 1954 in Montevideo, Uruguay. She is an Industrial Engineering (Electronic option). Since 1993 she is Profesor Titular of the Telecommunications Department of the IIE. She currently is the President of ANTEL (the uruguayan state telecommunications company). She was Dean of FING from June 1998 to May 2005. She has investigated digital treatment of images, image and sequence coding and digitalized video over real networks and channels. She has worked in ANTEL, UTE (the uruguayan state company), “Centro de Investigación Telefónica I+D” (Madrid). She had scholarships in ENST-París. She was responsible for consultancies, advising agreements and investigation projects in her specialty. She is the author of several publications and presentation in international events. She has been reviewer and member of scientific comitee of the events “IFIP Workshops on Performance of ATM (and IP) networks” and “Het-Net’s”. She was the President of the Communications Chapter of the IEEE. During it, she organized in October 1996 the “Jornadas de Telecomunicaciones e Informática”. She received a distinction as an outstanding professional, awarded by the “Asociación de Ingenieros”, in 2000.

Isabel Amigo

Isabel Amigo was born in January 23th, 1984 in Montevideo. Since 2007 she holds a degree in Electrical Engineering (UdelaR). She works in the Electrical Engineering department (IIE) since 2006. From the end of 2007 until February 2010 she worked as part of the technical team of Plan Ceibal, first as a technician, afterwards she was in charge of the Projects department and during the last year she was in charge of the Research and Developement area. Since March 2010 she is a PhD student at UdelaR (Uruguay) and at Telecom Bretagne (France), in a co-advisored regime.
Pedro Casas

Pedro Casas received the Electrical Engineering degree from the Universidad de la República (UdelaR-Uruguay) in 2005, and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Sciences from Télécom Bretagne, France, in 2010. He holds a teaching and research Assistant position at UdelaR since 2001, and he is a member of the Telecommunications Department at IIE, Engineering Faculty of UdelaR since 2003. He currently holds a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the french laboratory LAAS-CNRS in Toulouse, France. His research interests are related to the statistical characterization and analysis of network traffic, network modeling, anomaly detection, and performance analysis in heterogeneous networks supporting Quality of Service.
